A model Victorian village of notoriety best known for its exclusive design and architecture built around the central Mere and boating lake. Thorpeness benefits from a golf club and separate country club with tennis courts, a fantastic traditional public house serving good food and charming tea rooms and ice cream parlour next to the Mere. Just a few miles away is the unique Aldeburgh golf course and well known sailing club. You can walk to Aldeburgh town along the beach admiring the North Warren bird reserve to your right as you go. Other nearby places to visit include the Minsmere RSPB reserve, Southwold, Snape Maltings, Woodbridge and Orford Ness.
